I'm stealing this picture from Pillage website, all credits to them. See this page for full strategy by them(also have a flash video).
This is a good positioning diagram, considering that the 2 range dps nearest to the stairs will almost be the furthest from the boss, and they will be chosen most of the time for the lightning storm. Most raid members don't have to run far, except for the melees and tank.
Several new ideas for this event:
- Mages and Priests should use their levitate or slow fall when they are lifted up into the air, this will ensure they won't get any damage(50% hp) at all. Save the mana for the others ^_^
- Any dps who can do AOE should keep it up when the eagles spawn. This is because the eagles always fly near the boss, and hence the AOE can help kill them. This means, AOE the boss. May need to dedicate a warlock to just soc and dot the boss and focus on the eagles.
- Melee dps should watch their nature debuff, taken when the lightning ball hits them. If any melee dps should have more than 2 stack of the debuff, they should move out of range of the tank to prevent stacking more debuff on tank. Return after 20secs when the debuff is gone. As such, hunters should not send their pet in if they cannot watch the debuff on their pet.
- Healers should be assigned accordingly as I noticed that mages and warlocks are not getting heals after a while. 1 Healer on Tank only, 1 Healer (Prefer druid) on other raid members only. And 1 healer switch between Tank and raid members depending on whomever needs it.
- Last but not least, I've read that the boss enrage at 10mins. We have enough time to kill him ba.
